Course Description

The purpose of the course is to solidify the fire extinguishment knowledge and skills gained in Advanced Marine Fire Fighting Part I, and add to it tactical command, control, coordination, and communication.

This course consists of a 2-hour lecture and exam coupled with a single day (8 hours) of firefighting at the Massachusetts Fire Academy’s Bridgewater campus.

Completion of Advanced Marine Fire Fighting, Parts 1 and 2, will satisfy Section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1-2 of the STCW Code and 46 CFR 10.205(1)(2) and 10.205(g), 10.205(g)(1) for a license, as well as 46 CFR 13.113(d)(1)(i)(a), 13.113(e)(1)(i)(a) or (b), 13.201(e), 13.301(e), 13.401(d), 13.501(e) for a tankerman endorsement.

  • How to enter a space below grade in which the space is on fire and utilize the entrance as the only means of ventilation
  • How to command a hose line and function as team leader
  • How to move 200 ft. of hose on multiple levels to extinguish a fire
  • How to use water fog to move smoke through a compartment or space
  • How to use SCBA while in a space involved in fire
  • How to ascertain that their air supply is adequate for the attack of all fires and that they can service their air supply without assistance from the staff
  • How to search a fire compartment while a fire is burning and locate and rescue a mannequin and remove it from the compartment
