Operate a survival craft engine

SCRB-X2.1 Methods of starting and operating a survival craft engine and its accessories together with the use of the fire extinguisher provided

In a rescue boat equipped with an outboard engine,

the candidate starts and operates the rescue boat engine or simulates the start and operation.

The candidate ensures that:

1. The oil level is in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations;
2. Actions taken to start the engine are in accordance with the operator’s manual; and
3. The engine is properly operated in forward, neutral, and reverse gears.
