Condition Behavior Standard

On board ship or in a laboratory, when asked to describe entering enclosed spaces,

the candidate describes possible scenarios that could occur during an enclosed space entry and the dangers involved in an enclosed space entry.


The candidate’s description includes:

  1. Workers being overcome by fumes and lack of oxygen;
  2. Rescuers not using proper safety equipment and being overcome by the hazard; and
  3. Stand-by personnel not being trained in their duties and what they may do that would be a hazard to themselves and others while trying to effect a rescue without proper equipment.
